Parents and guardians of children in French Immersion often wonder how they can help their children learn a second language when they do not know the language themselves. There are many things parents and guardians can do at home to continue to foster the language their children are learning in school:
- Visit your local library and borrow audio books.
- Watch French cartoons and TV shows at home.
- Watch French movies - most DVD's allow for the language to be changed into French.
- Listen to French radio/music when in the car.
Here are some educational websites that you might enjoy trying at home. As I find more I will be sure to add them!
**** An awesome new site!!! On this site you can put in your own words (up to 64) and it creates a snakes and ladders game. We are currently playing this in class as one of our centers. A great way to practice sight words!! Note: It prints onto 4 pages that you then have to tape together to make the game board! Enjoy!
